Using experimental typography inspired by concrete poetry techniques, this broadside displays a short story from The Telltale Lilac Bush and Other West Virginia Ghost Tales. The expressive typography throughout this broadside conveys the moods, feelings, and events that occur throughout the short story. The implementation of a grid system and then knowing how and when to break that grid was crucial to creating a successful, dynamic composition. The drop cap was hand-drawn and scanned, maintaining its essential organic quality.
